Backline Biomechanics & Locomotion

BBL is the academy's newest science department. Coursework studies the posterior chain — glute complex, hamstrings, lumbar bracing — as a single working system, and traces how that system shows up in observed locomotion across the campus terrain.

Academy students performing stair and track conditioning on a sunny campus.

Department Overview

BBL pairs lab science with field protocol. Students screen the posterior chain in the lab, then take what they learn out onto the stairs, hills, and field paths the academy uses for its conditioning protocols. The department was spun out of BIO in 2026 to give the backline its own concentrated curriculum.
