Networked Popularity Systems
A research lab on the social mechanics of popularity in networked publics. Students study reciprocity, peer validation, and the small loops of attention that decide who becomes visible and stays visible.

- Network structure 101 — nodes, edges, ties
- Reciprocity and the like-for-like loop
- Peer validation systems on and offline
- Visibility, gatekeeping, and parasocial trust
- Lab study — track a popularity loop in the wild
- Final lab report
Assessment
25% lab notebook, 25% network mapping exercise, 20% practical exam, 30% final report.
